
ROBERT F. KAPPES
Robert F. Kappes is a Trial Lawyer. He has twenty years of first-chair jury trial experience. He received his B.A. (1990) from Saint Anselm College and his J.D. (1993) from New England School of Law. Mr. Kappes is admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut, the Mohegan Tribe Gaming Disputes Court, the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court, the State of California, the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.
Mr. Kappes joined the firm as an associate in 1996. He was made partner in 2001. Mr. Kappes’ practice is concentrated in the areas of civil and criminal litigation. Mr. Kappes has extensive experience in both bench and jury trials in the State of Connecticut, in state and federal courts, and has tried many actions to conclusion. He also has appellate experience in the insurance defense and criminal law fields. He co-authored the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance's "Connecticut Claims Handling Guide."
Mr. Kappes is married, has four children and lives in North Stonington. Outside of the office, Mr. Kappes is a retired member of the Hartford Wanderers Rugby Football Club, plays vintage base ball and is an avid sailor and hockey player.
Mr. Kappes has served on a number of Boards and Commissions including: the State of Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission, the Town of West Hartford Plan and Zoning Commission and the Inland Wetlands and Watercourses Commission and the Town of West Hartford Personnel Board.
ROSITA M. CREAMER- OF COUNSEL
Ms. Creamer joined the firm as counsel in 2004. She was formerly a Senior Assistant State’s Attorney trying serious felonies, including capital cases. She has over twenty-five years of jury trial experience. Her expertise is in the presentment and cross-examination of expert medical, psychiatric and psychological testimony.
Ms. Creamer received her B.A. in History from the College of New Rochelle (1965) and her J.D. from the University of Connecticut School of Law (1977). She is admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut.
JOHN M. BROWN- OF COUNSEL
Mr. Brown joined the firm as counsel in 2013. Mr. Brown received his B.A. in History from Wesleyan University (1994) and his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School (2001), cum laude. Mr. Brown is admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut; the United States District Court for the State of Connecticut; the State of Massachusetts; the United States District Court for the State of Massachusetts; the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois; and the United States Court of Appeals for the First and Second Circuits.
Mr. Brown’s practice area concentrates on the litigation of employment matters in state and federal court. He has more than thirteen years of experience devoted to the counseling of clients in this field.
MATTHEW P. HALLISEY- ASSOCIATE
Mr. Hallisey joined the firm as an associate handling the defense of civil matters. Mr. Hallisey graduated from the College of the Holy Cross (1986) and the Franklin Pierce Law Center (1994.) He is admitted to practice law in the State of Connecticut and the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. In addition to his civil litigation skills, Mr. Hallisey brings to the firm extensive experience in government relations having acted as legislative counsel to a number organizations, including the Connecticut General Assembly.
